Bytelight is a game. It needs no sign-up and has no accounts.

What stays on your phone

Your games, records and settings are stored only on your device. We do not receive them. Uninstalling the game deletes everything, and records can also be erased in the game, under Records.

How the game is used

To learn what works and what needs improving, the game sends a few events to our own statistics server: one for each day it is used, whether the opening was watched to the end, when the tutorial ends, each game with its length, points, biggest tile and the 255s made, when the day's games run out, and the steps of a purchase. With them go the game's version, the language, the screen size, the date the game was installed and a random code made on your phone.

That code does not come from your email, from any account or from the advertising identifier. It only counts the days the game is opened again, and none of this says who you are. Turning statistics off in Options › Anonymous statistics deletes the code; if you turn them back on, the game makes a new one, unrelated to the old.

The day's free games

When it opens, the game reads a small file from this site with the number of free games per day. That request carries nothing about you.

Test versions

In test versions, the feedback form sends the answers you write, along with the same events.

Errors

If the game crashes or hits an error, Sentry receives the error, the device model and the system version, so we can fix it.

Purchases

Unlimited play is bought through Google Play or the App Store. Payment is handled by the store, and the game never sees your card details.

Ads

The game has no ads.

Permissions

The game uses the internet (purchases, statistics, errors and the day's games) and vibration. It does not access the camera, microphone, contacts, photos or files.

Children

The game is not directed at children under 13.
